The Sudbury Rock & Lapidary Society is once again hosting the 34th Annual Sudbury Gem and Mineral Show. This three day trade show is the largest of its kind in Northern Ontario and features amazing displays of gems, minerals, fossils, beads, rock crafts, and jewelry.

Whether you’re a rock hound or new to the geology game, you are sure to enjoy the vibrant displays and vendors at the Gem and Mineral Show. Not only will they have minerals from the Sudbury area, but amazing treasures from around the world.

The show will take place July 15th-17th. Friday 5pm-9pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 10am-5pm. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, 1$ for children 6-12, and children under 5 are free!

In addition to the show and sale, there are a number of fun, interactive opportunities for all ages. During the silent auction you can find amazing rocks, minerals, and fossils for a great deal. There will be displays of historical artifacts, prospectors and metal detector displays, and a video theatre. You can also bring in your own rocks and minerals to be identified, and chat with the knowledgeable vendors and geologists.

Send the kids over to see the Dynamic Earth Bluecoats for some fun educational activities! Budding geologists can pan for real flecks of gold, identify different types of rocks, and do geology themed crafts.

On Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy a barbeque while taking in the view of Minnow Lake, directly across from Carmichael Arena. You can also check out the outside dealers and swap area on Saturday between 11am and 4pm.

We are a city that loves our rocks, and you are sure to get in the geology spirit at the Gem and Mineral Show this year. Not only will you have a blast – mining pun intended – but you will also find some of the best souvenirs for your time in Sudbury!
